Barry is a divorced father with 5 children who he hates. The children of Barry all have a different mother with whom he doesn’t have any contact. Barry left school at the age of 13, which means he never graduated high school. Because he dropped out of school at such a young age, Barry’s father has taught him the craft of bricking. Nowadays Barry is a mason, but he hardly shows up at his job which puts him in a very low income class. We tend to put Barry in the lowest middle class but it’s hard to say where he actually belongs because Artevelde Prison has a trading economy which makes measuring wealth almost impossible.

Barry doesn’t want to achieve anything special. He hates his job and most of the time he doesn’t show up. He rather stays at home playing online poker in which he believes he will find true success. Because Barry’s earnings are quite low, he makes his own alcoholic beverages instead of buying them. He doesn’t really want to belong in any social group. The only thing he loves doing is sitting at home and drinking his own drinks. Once a week Barry does leave the house, when he goes to the local pub to watch his favourite football team play.

He overestimates his own abilities and he believes he will someday win the Hunger Games. He thinks he would be the ideal competitor. But he doesn’t want to train to win the Hunger Games because he thinks he’s already good enough. Even though there are no investors interested in him. He doesn’t understand why this happens because in his mind he’s better than everyone. He also believes he has success with women but those women aren’t actually interested. They only women Barry has a chance with are addicts or poor women who are alone and don’t really know any better.

The only things Barry needs in his life are fast food, games and porn. He is and alcohol addict which makes his need for alcohol unconscious but he can’t live without it. He also needs a little love in his live but that he won’t admit himself.

Barry can’t cope with authority. He believes a country should have a king who let his people live their lives the way the want it. He has quite conservative political ideal but he’s too lazy to engage in politics.
